Ponderosa Bible Camp offers a 3-phase Leadership
Training Program
Phase 1 - T.E.A.M. Member Program -
age 14 to 18
"Teens Excited About
Ministry"
Our mission for the T.E.A.M. Member program is to train and equip high school
students to be effective servant leaders. In doing so we hope that students will
see the importance of developing a good work ethic and a great attitude about
the opportunity of serving others. This program will seek to build good
character within every T.E.A.M. Member and promote team work.
This program seeks to accomplish this mission not only by training, but by
giving students various tasks to allow them to serve. T.E.A.M. Members will be
given the responsibility of serving our staff and campers. Students will be
trained how to accomplish tasks well and in a timely manner. T.E.A.M. Members
will be responsible for setting up for each meal, serving the meals, clean up
following each meal, helping keep grounds and facilities clean and helping in
daily activities. Our staff will spend time each day teaching students
curriculum centered around servant leadership.
The T.E.A.M. Member program is open to all high school students 14-18 years old.
Students are required to attend our staff training week which will be June 7-12,
2009. We will also assign T.E.A.M. Members a minimum of one week to come back
and serve. Camp begins on Sunday evenings and leave Friday afternoons. Camp will
be from June 14 - July 17, 2009. Anyone interested should submit an application. If
you have any questions please feel free to contact Samantha Burnett.
Phase 2 - S.A.L.T. Program - 11th & 12th Graders
"Students Acquiring Leadership
Training"
Our mission for
the S.A.L.T. Program is to train and equip students how to be a spiritual
leader. We also want to give students the opportunity to exercise this training
by allowing them to lead in many areas. It’s our hope that many of our T.E.A.M.
Members will move on to become a S.A.L.T. Member. During training week we will focus
on each member and how God has created them.
We seek to accomplish this mission by first taking a personalized look at each
member's personality type and spiritual gifts during training week. We will also
train them how to help lead in their cabins and how to work with campers. When
serving at camp we will have daily Bible studies using a spiritual leadership
curriculum. S.A.L.T. Members will also be given opportunities each day to lead
in areas such as our team-building course, archery, riflery, canoeing, and a variety
of other games and activities. We will also spend one-on-one time evaluating the
progress of each S.A.L.T. Member. This program is designed to focus on training
high school students to become spiritual leaders.
The S.A.L.T. Program is open to high school students in 11th or 12th grade.
Everyone who is accepted will attend training week which will be June 8th–13th.
Then, students will return for two week-long camps. S.A.L.T. Members arrive on
Sundays and will leave on Friday afternoon. The available weeks of camps are
June 22nd– July 18th. We will first seek to fill positions from past T.E.A.M.
Members. After this, we will then review applications to invite students to join
this program. This program will be free to any past T.E.A.M. Members. This
program will cost $100 to those who have never served as a T.E.A.M. Member. This
charge will cover your training, food and lodging. If you have further
questions please feel free to contact Max Grizzard or Thomas Burnett.
Phase 3 - Camp Counselor
The Counselor position is the third and final phase of our leadership training.
All counselors are given a leadership role over everyone within their cabin,
which is 9 campers, a T.E.A.M. Member and a S.A.L.T. Member. Counselors are
responsible for mobilizing campers through out the day. Counselors have the
unique responsibility of investing into campers lives throughout the week. We
encourage counselors to spend time with each camper in their cabin, in hopes of
building a relationship that will allow them to share Christ .
It is our hope that our future counselors will have served as both a T.E.A.M.
Member and a S.A.L.T. Member. This will allow them to grow in servanthood and as
a spiritual leader. After gaining the knowledge in these two programs, we hope
that the counselors will be better equipped to be a more effective leader in
their cabin and in life.
In order to apply for the Counselor position you must have finished at least one
year or more of college. Must be willing to be at camp for all five weeks of
camp as well as training week. Finally you must love working with children in a
camping environment. New counselors will be paid $150 a week and returning
counselors will be paid $175 a week. We also allow counselors to raise an
additional $2,000 in summer missionary support on top of what we pay them. If
you are interested or have any questions please feel free to contact Jeff Nelson
or Thomas Burnett.
