2009 Nelson Praise and Prayer Letter
Dear Friends and Family:
Friday (July 10th) was the last day of our summer camp
season! The Lord has been at work doing “Extreme Makeovers” in the
hearts of campers and staff! At least 16 kids and 1 TEAM Member (teen
volunteer) accepted Jesus as their Savior! Countless others made
commitments to the Lord to grow and mature in their walk with Him!
In the midst of this fast-paced excitement we are also
facing pressing financial burdens. Would you please pray for us and
these needs?
Eleven years ago Ann and I began our journey as
faith-supported missionaries. This year we have been greatly affected
by the changes in the economy. Over the past 5 months we have lost
$1,000 in our monthly
support (income). We were already 15% below the
budget our Board set for us. Therefore, we are faced with the task of
raising a substantial amount of new support.
Please pray that God will meet these needs. Without the
prayer and financial contributions of supporters who share our vision of
reaching students for Christ, we could not continue to fulfill God’s
purpose of reaching these students.
If the Lord impresses upon your heart to give or increase
the amount you are already giving,
would you consider doing it as an electronic monthly gift?
Faithful electronic monthly pledges sustain us and assures the funds are
there each month so we can focus on ministry...not funding. You are
welcome to sow on top of your monthly gift as the Lord leads and
provides.

We are also asking the Lord to provide a vehicle
for JT & Katherine for this fall. Katherine's car died last year
and we haven't been able to replace it. JT's truck died last week
and needs more repairs than the truck is worth. JT has an
off-campus job and Katherine will be participating in practicum
(observing elementary classrooms) this fall and they will need
transportation.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and/or
financial support!

Some of you may be asking "What is a
faith-supported missionary?" Faith-supported missionaries are
not salaried employees of their mission organization.
Faith-supported missionaries look to God in faith for the provision of
financial, spiritual and other needs. These needs are then
communicated to individuals and churches so that others can embrace
their vision and support the missionary prayerfully and financially.
Their monthly "pay-check" is written for the amount of donations
received on their behalf in the previous month. Such support
enables our missionaries to follow God's call on their life to be a part
of our staff reaching students with the Gospel of Christ, and to provide
for their family. God blesses this biblical model of partnership
in several ways. In addition to the necessary finances, the
missionary receives more effective prayer and a network of ministry
partners. Members of a missionary's support team gain God's
blessings for being faithful and engaged more fully in a life-changing
ministry.
"Each one must do as he has purposed in his
heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful
giver."
2 Corinthians 9:7
