Released Time Bible Classes are open to every Public School student in DeKalb County, AL in grades 2nd - 6th.

Students with permission of a parent or guardian can be released from school during one PE class each week and go to an off-campus location (usually a church next door) and attend a Bible class.

 

Ponderosa Student Ministries is pleased to offer free this free discipleship program.  Released Time Bible Classes are exciting, fun, off-campus Bible classes with age-appropriate Bible lessons for 2nd thru 6th Grade students.  These Bible lessons are Christ-centered, true to the Bible and full of encouragement for your child. Students in Grades 2 thru 6 who choose to participate in this program have the potential to earn a free week of summer camp at Ponderosa Bible Camp!  Students will earn points for attendance, bringing their Bible, and returning their completed Released Time homework!  The points add up to a potential scholarship to summer camp!

Did you know that in America today, 50% to 70% of children in public schools have never been to church?  These kids need  to know about the love of Jesus and have an opportunity to accept Him as their Savior and Lord.  Did you know that 90% of all Christians get saved before the age of 13?  We are trying to reach these students with the Gospel, through a unique program called Released Time Bible Education. 

   

Max Grizzard coordinates our Released Time Ministry in DeKalb County. 

Max and his wife Sherrie and their seven children live in Sylvania and have set-up the Released Time office there.  

We have seen over 400 students receive Christ as Savior since November 2002! 

We have 11 schools in this county with an average of 1,050 students attending Released Time classes each week!

Pray for:

  • Finances to run each Released Time program.

  • Volunteers needed at each location.

  • More students to attend Released Time classes.

   How students can "earn points" through Released Time:

 Weekly Points can be earned:
 Attend - 5 points
 Daily Bible Reading - 5 points a day(35 points if you read your Bible all week)
 Completed Home Sheet - 10 points
 Bible Brought to class - 10 points
 Bring a Friend - 15 points
 Verses memorized - 25 points each
 Definitions of character qualities - 25 points 

 Possible Bonus Points each year:
 Recite books of OT - 30 points
 Recite books of NT - 30 points
 Recite Ten Commandments - 30 points
 Attend Ponderosa Bible Camp - 50 points(summer camp or retreat) 

 Awards for points earned each year can be used for:
 200 points - Released Time Pen
 400 points - Book
 600 points - Music CD
 800 points - Released Time T-shirt
1000 points - Bible & Bible Cover & $50 scholarship to camp
Summer Camp Scholarships can be earned:
 Earn 1,000 points in Year 1 - $50 off camp
 Earn 1,000 points in Year 2 - $100 off camp
 Earn 1,000 points in Year 3 - $150 off camp
 Earn 1,000 points in Year 4 - Free week of camp
