Summer 2020 & Covid19

Announcement from the Director

Dear Parents and Campers, as you know we have been waiting and praying to make our decision as to whether we will be having camp this summer at Ponderosa.

COVID-19 has forced all summer camps across the U.S. to make the same tough decision we are faced with here at Ponderosa. Should we open camp, take lots of precautions, and hope that the coronavirus doesn’t find its way here? Or would it be best to cancel all weeks this summer to avoid any chance of a camper contracting the virus and bringing it home to their family?

After much discussion and prayer, the Staff and Board at Ponderosa have decided to cancel all our summer camp sessions for this year.
We have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to provide the programming our campers expect and deserve while adhering to the guidelines and restrictions that the Alabama Department of Public Health has issued.

As hard as it has been for our board and staff to come to this decision, we feel that erring on the side of caution for the health of our campers and their families is the right thing to do.

WHAT NOW?

Let us answer some of the questions we know are running through your mind as you read this.

Refunds: Ponderosa will refund all money you paid towards your Summer 2020 reservations if you so desire.

Donations: You can request that some or all of your payments be converted into a tax-deductible donation.

  • Donations will assist with summer projects including improvements to the campgrounds and buildings.

  • Donations will provide leadership training, discipleship, housing, and meals for the few college students who have been hired to work here for the summer.

  • Donations will help keep us afloat financially during this difficult time.

  • PLEASE EMAIL THE OFFICE: your request must be received in writing. So, please email us at office@pbcpsm.com to request a refund or donation.

  • 7-14 DAYS: please allow 7-14 days for your refund to be processed.

As much as our campers need camp, we need our campers! We love you! We miss you! We are praying for you!

Our hearts are broken that we will not get to see you this summer! We hope and pray that we will be able to offer weekend retreats and get to see you this fall!

May God bless you and keep you until we see you again!

In Christ’s service,
