First Aid Provider

Position Title: First Aid Provider – Summer 2026

Location: Ponderosa Bible Camp, Mentone, AL

Reports To: Camp Director / Administrative Team

Position Type: Seasonal Volunteer (Summer Camp)

Job Summary:

This is a volunteer ministry position and is best understood as a summer missions opportunity. Each week of camp is an opportunity to serve the Lord by caring for campers, supporting staff, and helping create an environment where lives can be changed through the Gospel. We are looking for individuals who are not only willing to serve, but who desire to be used by God to make an eternal difference.  

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be a single female applicant

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Must not be the parent of a camper attending during the same session

  • Must be CPR certified (current certification required)

  • Must be knowledgeable in basic first aid practices

  • Must be familiar with common over-the-counter medications and their appropriate use for children and teens

  • Must be available to live on-site and serve Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon for each assigned session

  • Must be on call 24/7 during the camp session

  • Must be calm under pressure and able to respond appropriately in emergency situations

  • Must be comfortable caring for sick campers, including overnight supervision if needed

  • Must be willing and able to clean and sanitize after illness (including stomach viruses) when necessary

  • Must be able to perform head checks for lice and nits during camper check-in on Sundays and confidently identify cases requiring dismissal for treatment

Key Responsibilities:

Health Care Oversight:
Provide basic first aid care to campers and staff, including treatment of minor injuries, illnesses, and routine health concerns.

Medication Management:
Assist in the safe distribution and documentation of approved over-the-counter medications in accordance with camp policies.

Assessment & Response:
Evaluate injuries or illnesses and determine when additional medical attention is needed, including contacting parents or arranging off-site care if necessary.

Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate logs of all visits, treatments, and medications administered.

Health Monitoring:
Observe campers and staff for signs of illness or injury and respond proactively.

Emergency Response:
Act quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, including coordinating with emergency services when necessary.

Check-In Health Screening:
Conduct head checks for lice and nits during Sunday camper check-in. If lice or nits are identified, clearly communicate findings to leadership so the camper can be sent home with a parent/guardian for treatment in accordance with camp policy.

Communication:
Maintain clear communication with camp leadership, staff, and parents (when needed) regarding health concerns.

Overnight Care:
Occasionally supervise and house a sick camper overnight in the Infirmary sick bay when needed.

Sanitation Support:
Help maintain a clean and healthy environment within the Infirmary, including proper cleaning and disinfecting after illness.

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR certification required (First Aid certification strongly preferred)

  • Previous experience in healthcare, childcare, camp nursing, or a related field is highly preferred

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A calm, servant-hearted attitude with a desire to care for others

Additional Information

Work Schedule:
First Aid Providers must be available on-site from Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon for each assigned camp session and remain on call 24/7 during that time.

Housing:
The First Aid Provider will be housed in a private room adjacent to the Infirmary area, allowing for quick response to camper needs at all times.

Compensation:
This is a volunteer position. Participants will receive meals during their stay and have the opportunity to serve in a meaningful, Christ-centered ministry environment.

Duration:
This role is available for the duration of the summer camp season. Volunteers may serve one or multiple weeks based on availability and camp needs.

Applications will be accepted until May 2026 or when all positions are filled.
