Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant(s)  to join our team for the summer camp season. The Kitchen Assistant will support the Head Chef (Mrs. Sherrie) and kitchen staff in preparing and serving meals for campers and staff, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation: Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

• Food Serving: Help in serving meals to campers and staff, ensuring portion control and dietary needs are met.

• Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing surfaces and following proper sanitation procedures.

• Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing kitchen supplies and food deliveries.

• Waste Management: Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recycle materials according to camp policies.

• Safety Compliance: Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment.

• Support: Provide general assistance to the Head Chef and kitchen team as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.

• Skills: Basic cooking skills, knowledge of kitchen equipment, and familiarity with food safety practices. 

• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Personal Attributes: Strong work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork-oriented, and excellent communication skills.

Additional Information:

• Work Hours: Full-time during the camp season, serving one or more weeks at a time.

• Compensation: Volunteer Position - earning Community Service hours, meals provided during shifts, and the opportunity to enjoy the camp environment.

• Duration: Seasonal position for the duration of the summer camp.

Required Staff Training Week

All staff applicants are required to attend Staff Training Week before serving during the summer.

Staff Training Week Details:

• 🗓️ Dates: Begins the Sunday before Memorial Day and runs through Friday of that same week

• 💵 Regular Fee: $90

• 🎉 Early Registration Discount: Apply and register for Staff Training Week by February 1st to receive a $25 discount, bringing your total cost to just $65

• 🕞 Check-in: Begins at 3:30 PM on Sunday

• 🕐 Training concludes: 1:30 PM on Friday

• 🚗 Parent pick-up: No later than 2:00 PM on Friday
