Sharing the Love of Christ Beyond Our Borders

At Ponderosa Bible Camp & Retreat Center, missions is not just something we support—it is something we actively live out.

Through CBM Ministries, our parent organization, we have the incredible privilege of partnering with our sister ministry in Honduras. CBM has an established ministry location there, serving children, teens, and families year-round through camps, discipleship, and community outreach.

Our family first traveled to Honduras in 2017, and over the years, this ministry has become deeply personal to us. What began as a mission trip has grown into lasting friendships, meaningful ministry partnerships, and family connections that have forever tied our hearts to Honduras.

While serving there, Faith Nelson met Leo, and they later married. Allison Nelson also met Oswaldo while serving in Honduras, and they are now married as well. Because of these relationships, Honduras is more than a place where we go to serve—it is home to people we now call family.

Each year, our Ponderosa staff and volunteers travel to Honduras to serve alongside local leaders and invest in the next generation for Christ.

January – Teen Camp

Every January, our team helps lead a full week of Teen Camp in Honduras.

We assist with:

Worship and teaching
Small group discipleship
Games and activities
Building meaningful relationships with students

Teen Camp is a powerful week where teenagers hear the Gospel clearly, grow in their faith, and spend time surrounded by Christian leaders who want to encourage them in their walk with Christ.

Sponsor a Teen Camper

You can help make Teen Camp possible by sponsoring a camper for $300.

A $300 sponsorship helps provide:

A full week of camp
Food and lodging
Bedding
Arts and crafts supplies
Bibles and notebooks
Other personal needs that arise that we are able to help provide

A small portion of each $300 sponsorship also helps cover airfare for our mission team so we can travel to Honduras and serve during camp.

You may sponsor one camper, sponsor several campers, or give any amount toward the overall need. No gift is too large or too small. We simply ask you to prayerfully give whatever amount the Lord lays on your heart.

Your gift helps send a teenager to camp and helps send our team to serve.

March – Day Camp for Elementary & Middle School Students

In March, we partner with CBM Honduras to host a community Day Camp for elementary and middle school children.

Throughout the week, we:

Share Bible lessons
Lead crafts and recreation
Provide meals and encouragement
Create a safe, joy-filled environment

This outreach allows children in the surrounding community to experience camp, hear about Jesus, and connect with consistent, caring Christian leaders.

Fall – Community Outreach & Door-to-Door Ministry

In the fall, our team participates in door-to-door ministry throughout the surrounding communities.

We have the opportunity to:

Deliver food and essential supplies
Pray with families
Share the Gospel personally
Encourage and support local believers

These visits open doors for meaningful conversations and allow us to minister directly to families in their homes.

Why We Go

Since our first trip in 2017, our love for Honduras has only grown stronger.

We have a very special heart for our Honduran family and for helping them reach their own communities with the Gospel. Our desire is to come alongside local believers and ministry leaders, encourage them in the work God has called them to do, and help equip them to reach children, teens, and families for Christ.

Our mission trips strengthen the bond between Ponderosa and CBM Honduras. We love sharing our camp experience, training, and ministry heart with our Honduran brothers and sisters while also learning from their faith, perseverance, and joy.

Missions is not just about what we give—it is about partnership. Together, we are building relationships, encouraging local leaders, investing in children and teenagers, and pointing families to Jesus.

Our heart is simple: if God sends us, we will go.
